Darjeeling is probably one destination where we could see history getting the touch of modernity is the right way. The Darjeeling Himalayan railway or the Mall, everything takes us back to the long history of this place. Our journey to Darjeeling had the historical touch as we took the world famous ‘Toy Train’. Although, it took long hours to reach to the destination but the wilderness that we would experience was priceless, it was pure nature where mankind is otherwise not allowed.
Known as ‘Queen of Hills’, Darjeeling is a small hill station of West Bengal having long drawn history. The famous sunrise point ‘Tiger Hill’ is known for its true natural beauty. However, we preferred Batasi Loop. Having the mighty hills at the backdrop and serene breeze, this memorial is worth visiting. I would recomment St. Paul’s School too famous for shooting of the movie Main Hoon Naa. The background is really amazing with Mt. Kanchenjunga peeing from the back. If you want some parks and all, Rock Garden would be apt for you. Apart from these tourist places in Darjeeling, there are numerous other places too.
As we like the surrounding of a place apart from the main part, our travel to Kurseong and Ghum was also amazing. If you have little more time, you also think of Mirik. If you are going under the guidance of a tour operator, then your escorted tour would help see the best of Darjeeling easily. We took Shah Tours for planning our tour and they were amazing. We got lovely offers from them and the hotels and the entire arrangement was lovely and suited our budget nicely. Our escort helped us see almost all the places to visit in Darjeeling. And, we also managed to see some of the surrounding places in Darjeeling and among all we love Suntalekhola, it is one of the best nearby places in Darjeeling.
So, if you have lesser time and want to spend amidst nature, Darjeeling is just apt for you.
