What to say about Sikkim’s beauty. Here beauty is present in the atmosphere. The state has many beautiful towns including its capital Gangtok. The two major, beautiful and majestic mountains Himalaya and Kanchendzonga offers you a panoramic view. Here I am going to explain and elaborate my travelling experience to Sikkim from Bagdogra by road.
Firstly, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Asif Sheikh and I am from Nagpur, Maharashtra, working with some reputed firms. One thing I must say that travelling need a perfect partner, friend or family to make your trip a memorable and pleasant one. A good company will keep your mood fresh and make you feel energetic throughout your journey.
Best Time to Go:
I went to Sikkim this month in April from Nagpur. Nagpur is a place producing scorching heat during the month of April-may. So, I with my 6 best friends decided to take a break from our daily hectic schedule and make a trip to some cool and pleasant place and we decided to travel Sikkim.
The Journey Begins:
We are very excited about our journey to such a beautiful place like Sikkim. We had to reach Sikkim from Nagpur and we took a flight from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar international airport to Indira Gandhi terminal airport New Delhi and from Delhi we landed to Bagdogra airport around 2.30 pm. Later, for our further journey from Bagdogra to Sikkim by road we hired a car rental from Bagdogra airport by Shah Tour and Travels which I had booked online in advance. Actually I had booked a complete package online from Shah Tour. We stayed for about 2 hrs in Siliguri town to freshen up and to have our lunch. Siliguri is a town which is hardly 14 kms from Bagdogra airport. After completed our lunch which was delicious, we move to our forward journey to Sikkim. The car I booked was innova as we were less in number. The car provided by the car rental provider was well maintained decorated luxurious with good conditioned ac. The driver was too friendly and experienced. He drove well in hilly area with pleasant mood. Bagdogra to Gangtok taxi fare is around Rs 4000, but we booked the complete package. It took around 5hrs to reach Sikkim.
Fun We Did:
In between our journey we did a lot of fun. We were never seen tea estates before. And there were lots of tea gardens on the way. We friends asked the driver to stop the car and went to the tea gardens which were so beautifully planted. There was women’s plucking the leaves. We talked to them about tea garden and their work. We took so many photographs there by giving many funny poses and I felt like I am Shahrukh Khan posing for any movie like DDLJ in such a garden. After enjoying some time we continued or journey.
We reached Gangtok the capital town at around 10pm. Shah Tour was booked a hotel for us. The hotel was so beautiful; the view from the hotel was mesmerizing me. I was enjoying the view with coffee in the morning because at night as I was tired so, prefer to have my dinner and went to bed early. I went to many sightseeing places in Gangtok with my friends and enjoyed a lot. Gangtok is truly a charming place. We loved its scenic beauty, lush green forest, and flowing rivers. We went to many local sightseeing places in Gangtok like Hanuman Tak, Tashi view point, chortan, Stupa, Tibetology Institute of Technology as we all were engineers this place was quite interesting for us. We did many adventurous activities like river rafting, and mountain trekking which was an unbelievable experience to me, some places we visit like Tsomgo lake , which was very gorgeous and located at a ht. of 12400ft this is one of the highest lakes in India. We friends did enjoy the beauty of the lake. It was our 4day trip so we did enjoy travelling in Gangtok for two days and in the next day we woken up early and got up freshen, had my breakfast and moved for Pelling,as we heard about its beauty a lot.
The Scenic Beauty I found in Pelling:
I found this place more beautiful than I have heard. Pelling is approx 5 hr journey from Gangtok. We reached Pelling in 4.40 minutes. Believe me this place in Sikkim is unforgettable throughout your life. It is located at a height of 7200 ft above the sea level. This place took my breath away. Its beauty was something I can’t explain in words. There were several waterfalls and breath taking views of Kanchenjunga and Himalaya; the two main mountains. We did capture some memorable photographs there. We spent whole day there and returned back to hotel at around 9pm in Gangtok. Next morning after taken breakfast we departed for Bagdogra and carry on our forwarded journey to Nagpur via New Delhi.
What I got to know:
We got to know by our hired car rental driver that there are 11 official languages used in Sikkim i.e. Sikkimese, Nepali, Lepcha, Limbu, Tamang, Newari, Rai, Gurung, Sunwar, Magar and English. It is also the 2nd largest producer of spices. The overall service provided by shah tours and travels was excellent and what to say about Sikkim? The complete route from Bagdogra to Sikkim was beautiful and had scenic beauty. A beautiful memory I had taken along with me. And one thing I promised to myself that I will come to this place again after my marriage for honeymoon.
